Ryan and Sam are the owners and founders of Crossroads Fitness Studio and Boutique. 

They have of 3 kids, Kenzli (10), Jasper (7) and Brylan (3).

They decided, after much prayer and guidance, and 6 years of leading classes, that it was time to open their own fitness studio instead of being in multiple locations through town. Being centrally located opened up class times and styles to better serve their clients. So with the help of family and friends Crossroads Fitness was born! They bought an old excavating company garage on Emory Road and renovated it into a beautiful studio. Then they enlisted the expertise of fabulous instructors to come along side them and build the business in their hometown. 

They are so thankful and grateful for the members that trust Crossroads to walk, dance, sweat, scream, cry and celebrate them in their fitness journey. Your trust and success mean everything to them.

Zumba Fitness - All Party! All Workout!


7 years ago after Jasper was born Sam decided to go to a Zumba class at her church and fell in love with this style of exercise. She was licensed 2 months later and has been teaching ever since. Through the years she has also gotten licensed in Zumba Gold, Zumba Step, Zumba Sentao, Zumba Toning, Strong by Zumba, and Aqua Zumba. The different formats of Zumba work your muscles in different and challenging ways to help you accomplish your goals and achieve overall health, creating strong, lean muscles. She is also certified in group fitness through AFAA and is a certified Barre Instructor through Barre Above.   

Strong by Zumba - No Dancing!


 Ryan didn't exactly love all the dancing involved in Zumba but when Strong by Zumba came out he knew it was something he would enjoy. It is a mix of high intensity intervals and bootcamp style moves. He had always enjoyed Insanity and P90X and Strong by Zumba is all that but driven by great music to motivate you to push yourself harder than you thought was possible. Trust us when we say there is no dancing involved! Ryan and Sam teach Strong by Zumba together so we can offer modifications and switch outs to help you get the best workout for you.  

Meet Our Instructors

Tara Wallace


 Tara grew up half and half in Orlando, FL and Knoxville, TN. She graduated with her bachelors and masters from The University of Tennessee in Social Work. She has a passion for people and desires to help others in any and every way possible. She is a Life Enrichment Director at Windsor Gardens Assisted Living and loves it! Tara grew up in cheerleading and loves to dance. She decided that you're never too old to accomplish dreams and enrolled in an adult ballet class in Powell. She found a new passion in ballet and decided to transfer that passion to a group fitness class. Tara became a barre instructor to help others find the confidence, poise, and grace building workout that she has! “We can all be our own version of beautiful ballerinas!” says Tara.   

Audra McElyea


 Audra is a Powell native, former University of Tennessee Head Majorette, personal trainer, and group fitness instructor who specializes in mixing elements of light weight lifting, Pilates, Barre, and classic toning moves all into one class—which stems from her background in baton, dance, years of having her own personal trainer from the University of Tennessee, and being a boy-mom. She is the creator of our Sculpt&Burn class. Everyone loves the class and highly recommends it! 

Chasitey Kyle


 Chasitey is a full time working mother of 4, with children ranging from 14 years to 2 months old. After the birth of her second child she became more focused on her health and fitness goals. She followed several at home programs before deciding to give PiYo a try. She instantly knew that PiYo would forever be her program of choice. She began teaching at Crossroads when baby 4 was only 3 months old and has continued to teach throughout this entire pregnancy. She is proof that exercise during pregnancy is possible and beneficial. 

Stephanie Hebenstreit


 Stephanie is our newest Barre Instructor. She took the Barre Above Instructor Certification with Rachel in September 2018. She is growing her confidence in teaching and leads a killer class. Stephanie is also a full time nurse. She is married to Geoff and has a son named Dylan. 

Peyton Brooks



Peyton earned her Yoga Alliance 200-RYT certification in April 2019. She strives to lead people to find confidence, self-motivation and push their limits through her teaching!

When Peyton is not teaching yoga you will likely find her at her full-time job in Oak Ridge, practicing yoga, enjoying live music, exploring the outdoors, or refueling at local restaurants. Most of the time though, her dog Lyla is right by her side!

Brooke Lakin


 Brooke is a nursing professor at the University of Tennessee by day and a Pound Pro by night. She co-teaches our Pound classes with her sister, Sam and she helps lead our Pound Down Bootcamp groups. She is currently in school at the University of Alabama getting her Doctorate in Nursing Education. Brooke is married to Jon and has 2 kids, Noah and Allie.  

Xiu Hu Friedman


 Xiu (pronounced Show) has her 500 hour yoga certification. She completed 200 hours in India and finished her 500 hour certification in New York City. Xiu's class is based on a power vinyasa. She likes to start slow and build up the flow, mainly using core muscles for a tough class. She aims to make you work hard so you leave the class feeling relaxed, but energized. Xiu says that yoga helps her to let go of things she can't control and be more open and receptive.
